This is self explanatory really. Baywatch meets cleopatra! I can't take this one too seriously but I must say it was fun making it. It was a study in lighting more than anything else! this is one pic that I've been messing around with for a long time. lol! Not what you think! It's a bit more laboured now than some of my other more rough images. I like it though. It has a certain atmosphere that i like.

This painting was self indulgent wallowing in melancholy, but the irony is that I'm so happy about the results! lol. For me this is another painting on the theme of the divided mind.
I love the fact that our minds are this way!

Just practicing my brushwork in PS. Only used two brushes really. A patchy, spackled brush and a comb-like, sketchy brush. I like the textures a lot.

This was about 25hours of photoshop! I didn't use any references for the for this. I think I really need to start using them. It's far too painful if you're trying to be a perfectionist! lol

This painting came about after reading a work by psychologist R.D. Laing called The Divided Self. Essentially a healthy mind has some degree of division or multiple personalities. It is the balance of these distinctive centres of thinking that make us "sane".

The Eastern concept of Yin and Yang is about balance of opposites. So I drew upon Asian symbols and tried to achieve a sort of equilibrium. Light and dark. Tiger and crane. Peace and violence. Exposed and hidden. The exposed world of air and the hidden world under the sea.

I'd love some feedback on whether or not you think I've managed to express the above ideas well with this painting.
